Cambridge Elder Pilot: Recipient of the MCC Gold Star Award
Spin a Yarn, Weave a Life had its beginnings in 2011 when it received funding by the Cambridge Arts Council to engage a small group of elders in the preservation and transformation of their life stories. Our 14-month project involved audio recordings of our conversations, writing, spinning and weaving. In 2013 our work was one of five cultural projects in the state to receive the Massachusetts Cultural Council Gold Star Award, a distinction that recognizes artistic excellence, collaboration, diversity, and learning while highlighting a unique quality of the community.
